What is a professional organizer?

According to National Association of Professional Organizers a Professional Organizer uses tested principles and expertise to enhance the lives of clients. By designing custom organizing systems and teaching organizing skills, they help individuals and businesses take control of their surroundings, their time, their paper piles, their lives!" We can help you purge items, sort them and find permanent homes for them so that you can find your stuff when you need it. We can also work with you to maintain your success after the initial organizing sessions.

Why should I hire a professional organizer?

Let’s face it, the thought of organizing the clutter and piles of paper in your home or office by yourself is probably quite unpleasant and overwhelming. Disorganization leads to higher stress levels and reduced productivity. Think of all the time you waste looking for your keys, that bill you need to pay, your son’s permission slip and more. In your office, can you find all your files? Your time is valuable, and the process of getting organized can be very time-consuming. Organization helps us get stuff done.. For many, especially those with ADD, organizing is a lifelong struggle, and some may find it helpful to schedule a block of time and work with an organizer each week or each month to achieve and maintain order. Now there is no need to postpone your dream of having an organized home or office any longer. Just contact us.

What are the benefits of hiring a professional organizer?

A professional organizer will work with you, at your pace, to help find systems and places for your things. An organizer will have new suggestions or solutions for your organizing needs. While your friends and family may want to help, it might be tough for them not to criticize. Organizing professionals are not there to judge. In addition, while you may recognize the need to delete stuff, it can be a difficult and emotional time. A professional organizer will be your coach at this time, pushing you when needed, stepping back when necessary and providing a guiding hand throughout the process.

How long does it take to get organized?

That depends on how much space we’re organizing and how quickly you make decisions. Each organizing session is different and each person is different. Organizing is a process, not an end result.

How much does a professional organizer cost?

Each organizing project is unique. The length of each project depends on the degree to which you want to be a part of the process, the quantity of paperwork or other items to be organized, and how easily you can make decisions about what to keep and what to eliminate. We understand your need to control the cost. Therefore, we are happy to discuss your organizing project over the phone and suggest a program that will meet your needs. We offer several packages of services for your larger projects or greater organization needs. The phone call is free and you are under no obligation to purchase organizing services. A typical home or small business organizing work session is 3 hours long. Clients who want to minimize the cost will frequently do some of the organizing themselves in between sessions. In fact, my goal for you is to internalize organizing skills to use in every aspect of your life, long after your current organizing project is complete. For your convenience, we accept payment by credit card and personal check.

What can I do to prepare for your visit?

We understand if you are embarrassed. Don’t worry! We’ve seen it all! Just remember that we are here to help you solve a problem. By contacting a professional organizer, you have taken that important first step to changing the way you will maintain your home or office in the future. There is no need to “clean up” before our visit and we bring all necessary tools with us. Eat a good protein meal that day and be ready to sort and make decisions. Your professional organizer will meet with you for 3 hours. She will ask you to read and sign a Letter of Agreement which includes a confidentiality clause. (OHO will never reveal information about you without your specific, express permission.) We will then tour your home or office to assess your needs for organizing services. We will help you clearly define your goals for your organizing project and we will spend the remainder of the first 3-hour session executing your action plan. At the end of the session we will assign you “homework”, and/or schedule your next organizing session as desired. Finally we will collect payment for today’s session.
